June is National Men’s Health Month! With Father’s Day around the corner, what an opportunity it is to discuss health with your dads, brothers, husbands and friends. Raising awareness on exercise, diet and screenings is the purpose of this month to help prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and some forms of cancer that men commonly experience. They can make small changes to improve their health by taking action.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports the top 10 most common cancers among men.

Tips for men’s health:
- Exercise 30 minutes 5 times a week. For weight loss, increase time and intensity gradually.
- Eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which is linked to prostate cancer prevention.
- Get screened for colorectal and prostate cancer (most common cancer in men).
- Reduce stress and take time in prayer and meditation.
To support Men’s National Health Month, wear blue this month to spread the message.
