Graham Barham Retires from ARM U.K. Office; Successor Selected

October 28, 2021

Silver Spring, Md. October 28, 2021 - Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) today announced an upcoming change in leadership for the company’s United Kingdom office, which serves ARM’s clients in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia. The current Regional Manager, Graham Barham, recently announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2021. He will be replaced by Giles Barham.

Graham Barham’s service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church spans 38 years on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. During his career he served a total of 17 years as auditor and later as treasurer of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Trans-European Division. He spent two years working as an auditor with the General Conference Auditing Service. After 11 years as treasurer of the Stanborough Press, Graham served as chief financial officer of the Review and Herald Publishing Association in Maryland, United States. Graham joined ARM’s St. Albans office in 2014 as Regional Manager.

David Fournier, ARM’s vice president and chief client care officer, said, “I have appreciated working with Graham over the last several years and believe that he has led our team in St. Albans effectively while continuing to move our work forward with positive relationships across Europe and Africa. Graham will be remembered for his quick wit and keen intellect, always going the extra mile to meet the needs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.”

Graham will be succeeded by Giles Barham, who previously worked for ARM as an account executive from 2015–2019 representing ARM across Europe and Africa. He has also worked as assistant treasurer for the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and associate treasurer for the Trans-European Division.

Giles received bachelor’s degrees in business management and applied accountancy from the University of Essex and Oxford Brookes University respectively, as well as a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Nottingham. He also holds Fellow Membership of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in addition to a Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Institute of Insurance.

James Winegardner, ARM’s president and CEO, said, “Giles Barham will provide strong leadership and continuity as ARM seeks to grow our ministry to the Adventist Church in the territories served from the St. Albans office. His experience uniquely qualifies him to excel in serving the Church from this chair.”

ARM’s office in the U.K. serves clients in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, including the Trans-European Division, Inter-European Division, Euro-Asia Division, East-Central Africa Division, West-Central Africa Division, and the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division. These six divisions of the General Conference include more than 10 million members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
