Be Ready for Emergencies with Safety Sabbath®
Safety Sabbath is one Sabbath designated annually by the North American Division for churches to hold a safety drill. Join Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) for Safety Sabbath, on March 25, 2017, to equip your church for emergencies by holding an Active Shooter or Fire drill.It’s easy to get involved.
1.Register at SafetySabbath.com.
Register as a church member or church leader at SafetySabbath.com. Once you register, you will receive free Safety Sabbath 2017 planning resources. If you are already registered, make sure you update your preferences to either a church member or church leader to receive exclusive, customized Safety Sabbath resources.
2.Talk to Your Pastor and Church Safety Officer
Involve your pastor in Safety Sabbath and share why you want your church to participate. Encourage your church leaders to register your church at SafetySabbath.com. Registration provides access to free drill planning resources and exclusive children’s resources.
3.Put Safety Sabbath on Your Church Calendar
Work with your church board to obtain approval to conduct a Safety Sabbath event. Request the event be placed on the annual church calendar for the fourth Sabbath in March. The official date for 2017 is March 25.
4.Create Your Team
Church leaders, put together your Safety Sabbath 2017 Planning Team. This team will work with your safety committee and ministry leaders to plan how your church will participate in Safety Sabbath 2017. The team will choose the safety drill your church conducts. This year ARM-provided resources include instructions for implementing either an active shooter or fire drill.
5. Plan Your Drill and Share on Social Media
Use the exclusive Safety Sabbath 2017 resources at SafetySabbath.com to plan and conduct your drill. Then complete the Safety Sabbath survey at SafetySabbath.com to receive your official Safety Sabbath 2017 completion certificate. Share your experience on social media using #SafetySabbath2017.
